This week's quote comes from Daniel Owens's book In God We Trust: But Only as a Last Resort. He poses some fitting questions for us to ask ourselves as we go on into the new year.
In Apollo 13, as the astronauts looked out the window at the moon they come so close to touching, actor Tom Hanks asked that wonderful question, "Gentlemen, what are your intentions?" Do I really want the Lord to work powerfully in my life? Do I truly want to forsake this world and follow God? Am I learning more about Him each day? is it my intention to follow the Lord as closely as I can? Could it be that the reason I have such a hard time trusting God is because I really do not have any intention of doing so?(Crossway Books, 2000)

Too often we lag behind in following Christ, giving ourselves room for distractions and ease. We follow Christ, but according to our desires rather than His. I'm being challenged to zero in on my intentions, and to quicken my pace.
